2nd practice run and all is well. Very well actually.

The event will be live in front of thousands on September the 23rd backed by Motorcycle Monthly (MCM) and Vista, Royal Leicestershire, Rutland and Wycliffe Society for the Blind.

Billy the “Whizz ” Baxter, (or crazy Baxter as I call him!!) stunned us all again with an outstanding practice session at Donington race course Thursday 30th August.

It was an important day for Billy and indeed for Sonic as the event was being filmed for a documentary as well as for the Midland’s radio stations and Channel M television crews.

Billy was looking forward to trying out the Sonic’s Bike to Bike system.

We agreed on a system that would best suit Billy and his two outriders, Tom Dunn and Stephen Morris.

The kit comprised of 3 radios, 2 of which are wired to helmet mounted earpieces each with a microphone boom and then using a Push to Talk Button mounted on the handle bar.

The other radio used by Billy was connected to a volume switch and then to his Genesis receive only earpiece inside his custom made ear moulds, courtesy of Peter Hickin our own ear impressionist.

The outcome was a great success with smiles from Tom Dunn and Stephen Morris and an even greater smile from Billy.

Having ridden several laps, Billy was over come with Joy and felt more confident than before and made his statements to Channel M crew:

“…if you have said 10 years ago that I would be riding a motorcycle – although being blind - I would have laughed”
