The Pump Bay Voice Terminal is a collaborative project between Sonic Communications (INT) Ltd and Motorola to provide voice transmit and receive at the rear (pump bay) area of a Fire and Rescue vehicle. The link between this equipment and the Motorola terminal also allows for the “RTS”, Request To Speak, function to be activated (optional) removing the need completely for the Pump Bay operator to leave their position to make and receive radio calls.

The unit is switch activated from the cab providing the instant extension of the voice communications system making for increased efficiency and use of manpower on the fireground as well as improved safety. Updates to control can be passed quickly without compromising the Pump Bay

operation providing a more rapid response to a worsening situation or allowing the release of valuable resources when not required.

The components of the system are manufactured by Sonic Communications (INT) Ltd. to IP56 rating providing resistance to the potentially harsh operating environment. The system then being interfaced to the Motorola radio terminal for use nationally in Fire Appliances.
