Ear Impression Appointment
Prepare for superior comfort by booking your ear impression appointment with our Audiologists.
Service Description
What to expect during your appointment: Upon arrival you will be asked to complete a consent form, after which you will be invited to take a seat in our Audiology Room. One of our experienced Audiologists will perform a visual examination of the ear to assess the suitability to proceed with the impression taking process. If you have a history of excessive wax/Impacted wax please consider having this checked before making an appointment with our Audiologists. They will then insert a small foam block around the second bend in your ear canal as a protective barrier - This may cause you to cough or sneeze and is nothing to be alarmed about. Once the foam block is seated correctly, your ear canal is then filled with a silicone impression material which will dry in approximately 3-4 minutes during which we ask you to remain seated, without talking or any significant movement of the jaw as these change the shape of the ear canal/impression. The process is quick and painless, but you may feel fullness or slight pressure in the ear, both of which are normal. Once fully cured, the impression and foam will be removed in one piece, ensuing nothing is left in your ear canal. The impression will be checked for imperfections (if necessary, re-taken) and bagged/labelled. After the appointment, our Audiologist will prepare the impression and within a few minutes the impression will undergo a full 3D scan and the results held electronically on file ready for the ear mould lab to begin the production process.
