Ultra Low-Profile Communication Headsets
Genesis
The Genesis headset product range is designed for professional users who demand reliable, superior quality, high performance TX/RX communication equipment with hearing protection and comfort being integral to the design.

Headsets
Generations 4-5
The Genesis headset range represents a low-profile modern approach to professional communication headsets. Their low-profile design allows them to be used comfortably beneath different types of helmets/PEE with either a generic fit ear adaptor or for superior comfort a personally customised earmould backed with a certified level of hearing protection.
Genesis 4
The latest Genesis-4 headset was designed and manufactured specifically for motorcyclists who typically require high quality communications often at high speeds, with integral hearing protection and comfort for the duration of their shift/deployment. Key to its success are the high-performance miniaturised earpiece and microphone components used within each headset allowing clear communications in high noise environments. The microphone element specifically employs pressure gradient noise cancelation technology.
The success of Genesis-4 however, has found favour with users beyond motorcycling, for multi-application use cases such as PSU, ARV’s etc.
Genesis 5
This iteration of Genesis is typically for Public Order/Crowd Control applications which is typically a single receive earpiece, and the opposite is a blank still permitting the user to wear an earmould for passive hearing protection. A subtle variation of cable exit orientation alleviates the ‘handing issue’ allowing the headset to be worn as a RHS or LHS Headset. Furthermore, specifically for this application it includes a pluggable handheld rugged PTT with Velcro hand strap.

Customised (or Generic Earmoulds)
Earmoulds
Customised earmoulds are essential to ensure the best possible experience in terms of comfort and hearing protection. A trained audiologist will take an impression of your ear canal to create a mould that is an exact replica of your inner ear. This optimises comfort as the mould will fit perfectly, enabling long term wearability. Genesis 4 moulds can be made in a blue, red or clear 40 shore silicone material and are EN352-2 certified. As the moulds are specific to each user, they provide optimal comfort and a repeatable, measured level of protection. Generic non-customised earmoulds are also EN352-2 certified. Although they are not user specific, nor potentially as comfortable over longer periods.
Passive acoustic filters can be fitted to allow a small amount of ambient noise to pass through the earmould, intended to help ease conversing with colleagues but consequently have a lower SNR. There is a balance to be struck with providing users with sufficient hearing protection for their role/use case/working environment without subjecting the user to ‘over-attenuation’. The risks associated with over-attenuation poses a threat in itself as it limits an increasing amount of ambient noise beyond what is necessary to afford protection to the users hearing. For example, in the scenario of riding a motorcycle on the public highway (particularly Law Enforcement where the speeds may extend beyond the speed limit) over-attenuation can negatively impact on situational awareness, potentially increasing the likelihood of accidents and limit valuable audible feedback from the motorcycle itself.

Ear Impression Process
Booking the Appointment
In order to take your impressions, we ask that you make an appointment via our Audiology Team or your Account Manager. Upon arrival you will be asked to complete a consent form, after which you will be invited to take a seat in our Audiology Room.
The Impression Procedure
*British Society of Audiology certified.
**If you have a history of excessive wax/Impacted wax please consider having this checked before making an appointment with our Audiologists.
One of our experienced Audiologists* will perform a visual examination of the ear to assess the suitability to proceed with the impression taking process**. They will then insert a small foam block around the second bend in your ear canal as a protective barrier - This may cause you to cough or sneeze and is nothing to be alarmed about.
Once the foam block is seated correctly, your ear canal is then filled with a silicone impression material which will dry in approximately 3-4 minutes during which we ask you to remain seated, without talking or any significant movement of the jaw as these change the shape of the ear canal/impression. The process is quick and painless, but you may feel fullness or slight pressure in the ear, both of which are normal.
Creating the Earmould
After the appointment, our Audiologist will prepare the impression and within a few minutes the impression will undergo a full 3D scan and the results held electronically on file ready for the earmould lab to begin the production process.
