Sonic Communications (Int) Ltd is a worldwide major supplier and installer of specialist vehicle mounted systems of all types to the Emergency Services through its bespoke Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) department. Our specially trained installation engineers can install either on-site or at our fully equipped Vehicle Installation Workshop located at our Headquarters near to Birmingham Airport.
For over 40 years, the SVO department has built excellent relationships with its customers and partners. Our dedicated Account Manager can work with our clients by providing pre-sales consultations and design input to formulate installation programmes and offer support throughout the process which is backed by first class after-sales with access to relevant Technical Support Departments.
Vehicle Installation Services
Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) is a bespoke vehicle-systems design and installation focused department, servicing the requirements of the Emergency Services sector, MoD, Civil Service, and other security focused sectors. Sonic SVO, from a communications perspective, specialise in both overt and covert installations to include Airwave/DMR and MCPTT.
The scope and resource of Sonic SVO is continually expanding its reach and capabilities both here in the UK and internationally, with radio replacement programs for UK Emergency Services, conducted under our TEA2 sub-licence for Airwave. Not only do we specialise in the installation of cars and vans (to include EV's, hybrids etc) but we are recognised as a world leader in the design and installation of covert/overt motorcycles and other specialist application vehicles.

To supplement our observation cars and vans we also provide a range of Covert C2 (command and control) vehicles. In a typical scenario these vehicles would be used as a central control point for a number of front end covert vehicles fitted with PTZ camera systems and video transmission. This provides the operational commander with the ability to view encrypted video images from a number of these front end vehicles giving the best possible operational overview, allowing fully informed mission critical command decisions to be made.

Sonic Communications are able to provide a full design, manufacture and installation of covert communications and video solutions for a large selection of vehicles. This includes deep covert installations integrated under the bodywork or transportable solutions as rapid deployment systems that can be switched between vehicles for maximum flexibility.
The process can include a full pre-installation, vehicle specific visualisation render to permit both the customer and SVO to achieve the niche technical parameters whilst maintaining the base vehicle profile. Technologies range from 4G/5G, Mobile Networked MIMO (MN-MIMO) and COFDM matched with full 1080p IP HD sensors with full local and remote activation/control. The work is undertaken in close consultation with our customers with staged progress events, training Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with full user manuals, quick start guides and approval documentation such as EMC & ICNIRP RF surveys where required.
Examples include Roadside Fuel Testing Unit (RFTU) vehicles, Technical Support Mobile Workshops and Cyber Vans. Each have a very unique job specific consideration which we undertake through one-to-one consultation, formulate design inputs and provide 3D conceptual modelling. In addition, we invite the user to meet the SVO Team to ensure all parties are fully informed all of the time.
Customers are able to define the installation to suit their own specific requirements to include Public Warning Equipment (PWE), vehicle modifications such as bulk heads, flooring, M1 approved passenger seating, bespoke bracketry and 19" racks designed/manufactured, through to anti vibration mounts, an telescopic masts etc. We offer various different battery technologies such as conventional AGM to Li-ion/LiFePO4 etc to meet weight and/or deployment times and associated charging options, safety isolation transformers and low voltage protection.
